The Paramount Ruler of the Idoma Nation, Agaba-Iduh, Dr John Odogbo, has given his royal blessing to the former Commissioner of Finance in Benue State, Dr David Olofu, in his bid for the Benue South Senatorial District seat.

The monarch gave his blessing, during a consultation visit to him at the Och’Idoma’s Palace in Otukpo, a gesture which has significant boosted Olofu’s quest.

During the visit, the senatorial hopeful outlined his vision for the district, focusing on key areas such as security, agriculture, healthcare, and education.

He pledged to leverage modern technology to combat insecurity, empower rural women through agricultural training, and enhance healthcare services in the district.

The senatorial aspirant also promised to expand the scholarship scheme he established two years ago for indigent students in the senatorial district, which had benefited over 200 students to the tune of N100, 000 each in addition to the promotion of science and technology education.

Olofu’s manifesto includes establishing a People’s Assembly and senatorial council to drive development, fostering inclusivity, and promoting unity among stakeholders.

He vowed to work with lawmakers, traditional rulers, and critical stakeholders to achieve his objectives, emphasising that leadership is about responsibility and inclusivity.

In his response, the royal father, a revered spiritual leader and chartered accountant, praised Olofu’s commitment to the district’s progress, stressing that he had been praying for a leader with the fear of God and love for the Idoma people. He said he believes Dr. Olofu embodies these qualities.
