The Commissioner of Police in charge of the Benue State Police Command, CP Ifeanyi Emenari, has ordered watertight security measures at all public places ahead of the Eid el-Kabir celebration.
Emenari, in a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Udeme Edet, said all worship centres, prayer grounds, major highways, and flashpoints across the state would be tightly secured to forestall any threat to life and property and ensure a peaceful Sallah celebration.
The Commissioner, on behalf of the officers of the Command, extended warm wishes to the Muslim community in the state ahead of the Eid el-Kabir celebrations and urged them to be security-conscious.
He assured the public of their safety and urged all residents of the state to go about their daily activities without fear, stating that adequate security personnel would be deployed to strategic locations to guarantee safety.
He also appealed to worshippers to adhere to security guidelines, be law-abiding, and conduct themselves peacefully throughout the period of celebration.
