Commissioner of Police Benue State, Ifeanyi Emenari, said the command has arrested over 60 suspected criminals. He spoke in Abuja on the side line of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Conference:
“We have charged them to court to face the wrath of the law. Over 25 firearms and ammunition were recovered in Ukum Local Government. The state is too hot for criminals to operate.
“IGP Tunji Disu dedicated this year’s National Police Day, with the theme, ‘Community partnership, building trust,’ to fallen heroes who gave their best to serve their fatherland, serving and retired police officers, stakeholders and the people for their invaluable support for the Nigeria Police Force.
“The command did sanitation and clearing with members of the public in Markudi. We also had medical outreach and a walk-out. We appreciate the public for turning out. This is part of community policing and having a good relationship with the public.
“Police in Daudu Division arrested two suspects for open grazing against the state law in Guma LG and recovered ammunition. Two others were arrested for culpable homicide, allegedly responsible for killing of their victim in Mbawa community. In Katsina-Ala, two suspected terrorists were arrested for attacking members of the Benue State Civil Protection Guard at a checkpoint in Abaji, in Katsina-Ala LG.
“In Agan, three suspected armed robbers were arrested. Operatives in Aliade arrested two gnnmen for terrorism at Jato Udum village. Poilce Zenda JTF in joint operation with SIS Abuja and CTU personnel repelled terrorist attacks in Yonov ward, Logo LGA. Two suspects were arrested, others abandoned their motorcycle and fled into the bush.

“In Ukum, a bandit attack was foiled at Tse-Kpese, while at Yakubu forest two bandits were neutralised. A kidnap victim was rescued in Buruku LG.
Seven suspects were arrested in Guma over a communal clash in Tse-Mbadyur, Logo LG.
“Police foiled an armed robbery at a roadblock between Ogowu and Ogbago community in Adoka, Oturkpo LG. In Kwande, Police Mobile Force personnel arrested two suspects for communal clash and culpable homicide in Shanger and Mbape communities, Kwande LG. In Gboko, two other suspects were arrested. Police in Okpokwu rescued kidnap victims and arrested suspects in Okpokwu LG.
“The IGP has repeatedly expressed his stance on professionalism, discipline, respect for human rights and dignity of citizens, public trust and enthroning a people-centred policing system.
“I will continue to ensure that officers and men of the command discharge their duties diligently at all times and are held accountable for their actions and inactions. We live in a time when it is totally unthinkable and unacceptable not to put the people first and serve them in the manner they rightfully deserve.
