A young man identified as Tartor Ayihe from Ayihe village in Makurdi Local Government Area (LGA) of Benue State has reportedly committed suicide after selling one plot of land to three different people.
Our correspondent gathered that the incident occurred on Wednesday evening, January 15, 2025.
It was said that the young man took a bottle of Sniper, an insecticide, when he excused himself from an ongoing meeting with the three persons who had assembled for an enquiry at the residence of the village chief.
A local from the area, who did not want to be named, told newsmen that the late Ayihe left the gathering with an excuse to get something from his house.
It was said that, rather than going home, he went to three different provision shops seeking to buy Sniper.

The source said that after he got what he wanted, he went home, switched off his phone, and emptied the full bottle of Sniper into his stomach.
It was gathered that after waiting for Ayihe for about an hour with no sight of him, the chief decided to send people to his house to fetch him back to the meeting, and on reaching his house, they discovered he had drunk Sniper.
The source said Ayihe was rushed to the hospital, but he died on arrival.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Benue State Command, CSP Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident.
She said, “We got the report this morning. Operatives have been sent there to find out what happened. They have not given me feedback.”
