A Federal High Court sitting, in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, has fixed December 7 for hearing in the suit instituted by the Benue State Government against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), United Bank of Africa, (UBA) and Fidelity Bank Plc over the freezing of the state government’s accounts in the aforementioned banks.
When suit number FHC/MKD/CS/46/2018 came up for mention, Counsel to the state government, Mr. Okon Esut (SAN) told the court that all the parties in the suit have been served, but the counter-affidavit of the 2nd and 3rd Defendants, UBA and Fidelity Bank were just served on him, on Thursday.

Esut, who noted that he needed time to respond to it, thereafter, moved for an adjournment to enable him respond to the counter affidavits of the 2nd and 3rd defendants.
Other News
Counsel to the Defendants, Steve Odiase for EFCC, Dankut Dalong for the UBA and Obia Edeh for Fidelity, did not oppose the oral application of the counsel to the Benue State Government.
The trial Judge, Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon granted the request of the counsel to the Benue State Government and adjourned the case to December 7, 2018 for hearing of the substantive matter.
