Benue gets new varsity

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has granted a provisional licence to Benue State to establish and operate a new state university.

The institution, Benue State University of Agriculture, Science and Technology (BUSAST), has become the second state-owned university, and is located at Ihugh in Vandeikaya local government area, Benue State.

Executive Secretary, NUC, Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu, presented the licence of Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia, represented by the Deputy Governor, Samuel Ode.

He disclosed that the new addition brings the number of state-owned universities to 68 and the total universities in Nigeria to 299.
