The Vice Chairman of the Benue Football Association, Alexander Awunah, has reportedly escaped an armed herders attack in Benue State, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

It was gathered that the football administrator was shot severally in his car on his way to Makurdi from Naka to attend the 2025 May Day Celebration.

Confirming the incident in a telephone interview with Francis Ugbede, the Vice Chairman of Benue State FA said he ran into the armed herders who opened fire on his car when he spotted them.

According to Elder Awunah, the incident occurred at Atingila settlement, 3 km away from Naka town and less than 1km away from the Military Checkpoint at Tse Orbiam village, along the Naka – Makurdi road.

He went further to appreciate God Almighty for protection as he was not caught up by the gunshots in his car.

He also called for regular surveillance and patrol on the road to reduce the level of attacks on the bad but busy Naka-Makurdi road.
