Benue Assembly announce names of 17 commissioner-nominees, advisers, assistants

The Benue State House of Assembly has announced the names of 17 commissioner nominees forwarded to it by the state Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia.

Speaker of the 10 Assembly, Hon. Hyacinth Dajoh, announced the names during plenary held on Tuesday, at the Assembly chambers, in Makurdi.

Dajoh, during the plenary, read a correspondence forwarded by the Governor requesting for an additional three commissioner nominees to the 14 nominees earlier forwarded to them for confirmation.

According to him, the request for addition is in line with section 126(sub A) of the constitution.

The Speaker said the names include, Mrs Joyce Luga from Gboko Local Government Area, (LGA), Bar Omale Omale from Apa LGA, Hon Yarmar Ortese, from Guma, Rev Fredrick Ikyaan, Gwer West, Hon Kwaghgba Amande, Kastina Ala, Mathew Abo from Ukum and Tiza Imojime from Buruku.

Others are Aondowase Kunde from Konshisha, Prof Jonah Ogbaji, from Oju, Hon Martins. Shaagee, from Ushongo, Hon Michael Oglagba from Otukpo, Hon. Ann Itodo, from Okpokwu, Bar Fidelis Mnyin, Makurdi and Hon Ugoh Udoh from Ogbadibo.

The additional three names include Hon Terkimbi Ikyange from Ushongo, Nick Oworo from Obi and Awuna Orpin from Tarka LGA.

The Speaker said screening of commissioner nominees would begin by12:noon on Thursday.

He urged the persons involved to submit their Curriculum Vitae, (CVs) to the Assembly latest tomorrow, (Wednesday August 9) by 2pm.

Meanwhile, Governor Alia has also approved the following names for Special Advisers and Special Assistants to be appointed into his cabinet.

A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Hyacinth Alia, Tersoo Kula, said their appointment is to enhance speedy service delivery to the Benue people and make his government move in full throttle.

The Special Advisers and Senior Special Advisers include Arc. Eric Adikwu, Hon. Alex Adingi, Dr. Kaalu Akerkpev, Barr. Terngu Gwanger, Hon. Mercy Nyamkyume, Dr. Aondona Mkor, Chief Joe Har, Hon. Denis Akura, Hon. Benedict Akombo, Hon. Fidelis Unongo, Hon. Iyoo Gbondo, Prince Ugese Orshi, Hon. Sam Yua, Hon. Mark Ochoga, Hon. Peter Ogilagwu, Hon. Yusuf Suleiman Elaigwu, and Scholastica Awuhe Ben-Sor.

The Special Assistants are Hon. Simeon Yongo, Hon. Julie Obeta, Hon. Jonathan Lahave, Idris Ojigbiri, Hon. Zipporah Adzege, David Sixtus Agbanyi, Mr. Michael Mfater Kaha, Hon. Sunday Shizum, Hon. Dennis Umbur, Harris Tersoo, Linda Ene Agada, Dorcas Faerem, Member Achihi Dekera, Chief Isaac Edo Onwu, Akaa Manasseh, Ordue Uyoo, Tertseagh Afere, Apeku Marshall, Richard Dzugweve, Hon. Christiana Sana, Hon. Stone Eje Eyikwaje, Paul Vershima Ishom, Sunday Ekas and Francis Emeor.

According to the statement, additional names of advisers shall be announced in due course.
