Several supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Benue State sustained injuries in a road accident involving two buses conveying them to the party’s North Central mega rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
Our correspondent gathered that the accident occurred within Lafia town, along the Government House route, as the supporters were travelling to attend the rally.
The victims were said to be loyalists of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume.
Confirming the incident, the factional Publicity Secretary of the APC in Benue State, Dan Ihomun, said the accident involved two buses conveying the party’s supporters from the state.

Ihomun, in a telephone conversation, said: “They are APC supporters in Benue. They were in two buses. They had a head-on collision, but there was no loss of life. The people have been taken to the hospital.”
He added that the accident occurred along the Government House route within Lafia town.
He also noted that although no deaths were reported, the injured supporters were taken to hospital for medical attention.
The circumstances surrounding the collision were not immediately clear at the time of filing this report.
