A governorship aspirant on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue State, Peter Tortiv-Ato, has vowed to prioritise security and sustainable development if elected governor of the state in 2027.
Ato made this promise during a declaration event in Tse-Agberagba, Konshisha Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
The governorship aspirant expressed concern over the state’s prolonged insecurity, worsened by the suspension of the Open Grazing Prohibition and Ranching Establishment Law.
He said: “This suspension has led to increased numbers of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and denied farmers access to their lands.”
Despite recent security challenges, Ato said he was confident that effective leadership could steer Benue towards a more secure and prosperous future.
