President Patrice Talon is reportedly safe while the country’s military is regaining control after a coup attempt on Sunday morning.

A group of military personnel led by Lieutenant Colonel Pascal Tigri attacked President Patrice Talon’s home in the capital, broadcasting a takeover declaration on national television.

Sharing an update to AFP on the incident, the presidency revealed that the city and country are completely secure.

“This is a small group of people who only control the television.

“The regular army is regaining control. The city and the country are completely secure,” the president’s office said.
