In a notable academic exchange, a high-powered delegation from the Federal University Gusau (FUGusau), Zamfara State, led by Dr Abbas Sani Dahiru, the Director of Consult, paid a strategic visit to the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Nasarawa State.

According to Dahiru, the purpose of the visit was to learn from FULafia’s groundbreaking transformation in university-based printing services, particularly its successful partnership with the Castle Mart Hubs, one of Nigeria’s leading printing companies.

He said that the visit focused on the operations of the FULafia Printing Press, an enterprise that came into existence under the visionary leadership of the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Prof. Shehu Abdul Rahman.

Dahiru commended the vice-chancellor and his Management team’s members for setting a new benchmark in university enterprise development.

He said that the insights his delegation has gained would serve as a blueprint for similar initiatives at FUGusau, particularly in enhancing internal revenue generation and improving service delivery.

During a guided tour of the facility, Dahiru and his colleagues were visibly impressed by the professionalism, efficiency and technological sophistication of the printing press.

He remarked that the transformation at FULafia went beyond equipment and technology and reflected a leadership style that embraced innovation, self-reliance and institutional sustainability.

The FUGusau delegation also interacted with staff of the press and reviewed samples of recently printed materials, including bulletins, annual reports and academic publications.

In his response, Abdul Rahman expressed his happiness with the visit, extending his gratitude to Prof. Mu’azu Abubakar Gusau, the Vice-Chancellor of FUGusau, for placing his trust in FULafia.

He reaffirmed the University’s commitment to knowledge-sharing and exchange of best practices with sister institutions.

Abdul Rahman described the transformation of the printing press as part of a broader initiative to build a self-sustaining University ecosystem driven by innovation, capacity building and purposeful leadership.

He attributed the success recorded by his administration in the area of printing to FULafia’s partnership with Castle Mart Hubs Ltd and encouraged FUGusau to explore similar collaborations.

The vice-chancellor said that the printing press was now functioning as a modern, well-equipped centre, producing high-quality publications, promotional materials and official documents for the University and beyond.

Abdul Rahman used the opportunity to inform the delegation of FULafia’s new partnership with AKKLAIM Contractors, aimed at delivering digital infrastructure to support the University’s expanding e-learning platform.

Those who attended the meeting included Alhaji Abubakar Kent Mohammed, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Castle Mart Hubs Ltd; Dr. Usman Ibrahim, Director of FULafia Consult Ltd; and Anwar Liman, Project Officer at FULafia Consult Ltd.
