The Governing Council of Bells University of Technology, Ota, Ogun State, has approved the appointment of Mr. Samuel Adebisi Adeyanju as the institution’s new Bursar.
The appointment was ratified by Board of Trustees, at its meeting and will take effect from 1st August, 2026.
In a statement, the Council affirmed the appointment, citing Mr. Adeyanju’s exceptional professional credentials, proven administrative acumen, and extensive experience in tertiary institution financial management. The statement added that his appointment is expected to strengthen the university’s financial governance and strategic resource management at a pivotal moment in its development.
The Council described Adeyanju as a distinguished career in tertiary education finance and his is expected to bring the three decades of his experience, spanning public and private higher education institutions in Nigeria to bear on the university.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN), dual distinctions that underscore his deep expertise in financial reporting, public sector accountability, and tax administration.
He is also a registered Professional Accountant with the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria (FRCN). His most recent position was as Deputy Bursar at the Lagos State University of Education (LASUED),
Oto/Ijanikin, a role he has held since May 2022. At LASUED, he assisted in overseeing the general operations of the Bursary Department, supervised the Final Accounts and Fund Management Divisions, and represented the vice-chancellor in engagements with banks and other financial institutions. He also played a key advisory role in the VC’s financial reporting and official addresses.

Prior to LASUED, Adeyanju served as Bursar of Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (AOCOED), Oto/Ijanikin, from February 2017 to January 2022. His tenure was marked by transformative financial reforms: he introduced online payment system that significantly reduced revenue leakages, established Money Market Fund investment accounts for prudent surplus fund management, and successfully negotiated with bankers for interest on current account balances while eliminating bank charges.
He also streamlined the college’s banking structure from fourteen to seven operating accounts, entrenched transparency through improved controls, and ensured staff salaries were paid on or before the 24th of every month, even amid delays in government subventions.
According to the statement, he worked closely with college management to facilitate the seamless transmutation of AOCOED into a full-fledged university of education in February 2022.
On his deep roots at Bells University of Technology, the statement notes that Adeyanju’s return to the university of Technology is, in many respects, a homecoming. He served the institution for over eleven years — from October 2005 to January 2017, rising through the ranks from Principal Accountant to Chief Accountant and ultimately Deputy Bursar.
During this period, he was instrumental in the management of the bursary department, preparation of financial reports, and coordination of three key bursary divisions. He also acted as bursar during the substantive bursar’s annual leave and deputized on numerous occasions.
In related development, the management of Lagos State University of Education (LASUED), Oto/Ijanikin has congratulated Adeyanju on his recent appointment as bursar of Bells University of Technology.
The LASUED congratulatory letter to Adeyanju was signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Opeoluwa Akinfemiwa, said his appointment marked a milestone in his career.
