Scarlet Gomez is a seasoned Nigerian actress, model, singer, and former beauty queen. Her emotional performance in Behind The Scenes earned her a nomination at the 2026 AMVCA.
In this interview, she speaks on her most challenging role yet, her plans, marriage, and the only role she would rather avoid.
Enjoy!
At the AMVCA, your outfit made heads turn in admiration. What inspired that lovely outfit ?
It was very last-minute thing; I didn’t have a dress until an hour before the red carpet. I didn’t even know what I was going to wear, but Rao London came through for me; my stylist, Mickey Creates, put it together, and my makeup was by Mafty.
You were nominated for Behind the Scenes. What will you regard as the most challenging part of shooting that movie?
Uh, the emotional scenes were very challenging to shoot. Having to put myself in that headspace and make it as believable as possible. It was really tough.
How do you feel about being nominated for your efforts?
I didn’t believe it, and I still can’t. I see many tell me they cried, and I’m like, “Did I do that?” I’m just grateful to God that they could feel what I wanted them to feel, and it’s amazing. The reaction of movie lovers to Behind The Scenes left me gratefully speechless.
Did you go for therapy after that set? Because it was a lot.
It was a lot, but I don’t even know. These days, I feel like God knew what I was meant to do, and He just equipped me for it.
Would you say that role was the most challenging you’ve ever had?
Other News
I won’t say ever, but it was challenging.
What else should we expect from you?
I have a lot in store for my fans and movie lovers. I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag, but at the end of the year, about three projects should be dropping.
Different movie genres, in which I will play different characters.
Will you be producing your own movie anytime soon?
Not everybody is meant to be a producer..
Do you intend to bring your husband into the movie industry?
I think he’s already in it, one way or the other. You guys will find out soon, but music is really his thing.
How does your husband react to seeing you kiss in movies?
I married a man, not a boy. He doesn’t care. He doesn’t have a small ego, and he trusts me. We have been married for nine years.
So far, do you have any regrets about being an actress?
Regrets so far? No. I’m right where I’m supposed to be, and I’m grateful to God.
Do you have a limit on the kinds of roles you accept, even if the money is enticing?
It’s not actually about the money, I am an actress, it’s make-believe, it’s not real. An actor should be a blank canvas; you should be able to allow yourself to be moulded into different things. I think the only thing that would scare me is acting with snakes; I hate them.
When did you realise you had the talent to act?
It was actually a means to an end. I didn’t think I would end up taking up acting as a career. Back then, I just wanted to make some money. I stumbled on Nollywood and fell in love with it. That was around 2012-2013.
