Big Brother Naija Season 11 has kicked off with one of the biggest gameplay twists in the history of the reality show, introducing a new feature known as “The Gambit.”
Unlike previous seasons where every housemate had an equal opportunity to compete for the grand prize, Season 11 introduces a strategic twist that changes the game’s dynamics from the very first week.
What is The Gambit?
The Gambit is a special role that will be assigned to one male and one female housemate. Before entering the Big Brother house, all contestants agreed to the new gameplay format, which comes with a significant reward and an equally significant sacrifice.
Housemates selected as The Gambit will be guaranteed a place in the Big Brother house until the grand finale.
This means they cannot be evicted at any point during the competition, regardless of nominations or public votes.
However, the immunity comes at a cost.
Despite remaining active participants in the competition, The Gambit housemates will not be eligible to win the Season 11 grand prize of ₦160 million.
How will they be chosen?
For the first time, viewers will not be voting to evict or save nominated housemates during the opening week.

Instead, the public will vote to choose one male and one female contestant to become The Gambit. The two housemates with the highest votes in their respective categories will assume the role for the rest of the season.
Will The Gambit still compete?
Yes. Becoming The Gambit does not remove a housemate from the game.
The selected contestants will continue to live in the house, participate in all tasks, take part in nominations where applicable, compete for weekly rewards and sponsorship prizes, and enjoy the same privileges as every other housemate. The only exception is that they cannot emerge as the overall winner of Season 11.

The Gambit introduces a major strategic dilemma for both viewers and housemates. While guaranteed safety until the final week is a huge advantage, it also means sacrificing the opportunity to claim the show’s biggest prize.
