The Nigerian Navy has confirmed the arrest of personnel involved in a public confrontation with other military officials in Bayelsa State during President Bola Tinubu’s visit on Friday.
The incident, which has since gone viral, was captured in a 53-second video depicting a heated exchange between military officers.
In the clip, a driver of a Hilux vehicle labelled “Naval Police” is seen exiting his vehicle and exchanging words with another driver.
Moments later, after returning to his vehicle, a soldier carrying a rifle approached and threw a punch at the Naval Police driver, sparking a chaotic brawl.

The scene swiftly devolved into a free-for-all, with officers from both cars exchanging blows while stunned crowds watched in disbelief.
The altercation erupted while the President was departing the site of an official function during his visit to the state.
As of press time, the cause of the altercation remained unknown.
In a tweet on his X handle on Saturday, Navy Captain Abi Folorunso, Director of Naval Information, confirmed that those responsible had been detained and were undergoing disciplinary proceedings.
“The affected personnel are in custody and already undergoing appropriate administrative and disciplinary procedures in accordance with extant military regulations,” he wrote.
