A Police sergeant, Obrientele Ebiarede, is on the verge of being dismissed for his alleged involvement in the recent abduction of a State High Court Judge, Justice Ebiyerin Omukoro, in Bayelsa State.

Sergeant Obrientele Ebiarede from Foutorugbene community in Ekeremor Local Government area of the State and attached to Enugu Police Command, was fingered in the abduction, and has been at large since other suspects were picked up.

Already, the Police Command, through the directive of the State Commissioner of Police, Francis Idu, has declared Sergeant Obrientele Ebiarede a deserter under section 398(1) of the Police Act and Regulations 2020 over abscondment from duty for over 30 days.

Ebiarede’s active involvement in the crime, with details of his supply of logistics for the operation, was narrated to the Police investigating team by the other suspects.

Investigation revealed that the Police investigating officers attached to the Operation Puff Adder led by CSP Chris Nwaogbo had stormed the home of one of the suspects, Emizibo Clement alias Obonor, located at Edepie and recovered the Motorcycle used by the dismissed Sargent to supply logistics to the kidnappers.

Sources at the State Police headquarters revealed that an official signal has been sent to all State Commands and 17 AIG zones to apprehend Sergeant Obrientele Ebiarede, and also directed the IPPIS and Police Budget to stop the payment of his salary.
