There is jubilation in Bayelsa State over the appointment of Mrs Didi Esther Walson-Jack as the new Head of Service of the Federation.
Mrs Walson-Jack, a former Solicitor-General of Bayelsa State, is from Tombia in Ekpetiama Kingdom, Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.
Several people who worked with her when she was in the Bayelsa State Ministry of Justice and during her tenure as a commissioner and later Chief of Staff during the administration of former governor Henry Seriake Dickson have expressed confidence in her capability to lead the Federal Civil Service.
Former Chief Whip of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Jonathan Obuebite, said her appointment is truly remarkable and well-deserved.
Mr Obuebite, who also served as Commissioner for Education, noted in a statement that her work ethic, integrity, and dedication are attributes needed to move the Federal Civil Service forward.
“Having had the privilege of knowing you for many years, I can attest to your unwavering dedication, exceptional expertise, and profound passion for public service. Your leadership qualities and commitment to excellence have always been an inspiration to those around you.

“As you step into this new role, I do not doubt that you will continue to make a positive impact and take the federal civil service to its finest ever. Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has also expressed delight over the appointment, stating that the news was heartwarming, well-received, and brought joy to the people of Bayelsa State and the Ijaw nation in general.
While congratulating the new appointee, Governor Diri described Mrs Walson-Jack as a distinguished civil servant with an exceptional public service career.
“Your appointment as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation is a significant milestone in your public service career.
“The government and people of Bayelsa State, and, indeed, the Ijaw nation are excited about this remarkable advancement and achievement of a worthy daughter of our state and the Ijaw nation.
“Your dedication and excellent performance in every office you have held stood you out and we are particularly grateful to Mr President for recognising competence, hard work, and distinction in his choice.”
While commending President Bola Tinubu, Governor Diri noted that it is equally gratifying that merit was not sacrificed for other primordial considerations in appointing Mrs Walson-Jack.
He said Mr President has again proven that he is a leader who is committed to fairness, justice, national integration, and upholding the principles of federal character in his administration.
