The wife of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, Dr Ogechi Lokpobiri, has been commended for her commitment to humanitarian service, compassion and efforts aimed at improving the lives of people within and beyond her immediate community.

The commendation was made by the Vice President of Boardwalk Group, Abuja-based real estate developer and philanthropist, Chief Mrs Obiageli Okwubanego, against the backdrop of the Bayelsa State 30th anniversary celebration, tagged “Celebrating Legacies.”

The anniversary celebration featured the presentation of an Award of Excellence to Senator Lokpobiri by the Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, in recognition of his contributions and service.

Speaking with journalists in Asokoro, Abuja, Okwubanego described Senator Lokpobiri and his wife as “two perfect persons” whose hearts, she said, were focused on making the nation better and improving the lives of people who crossed their paths.

While commending the minister for his role in the oil and gas sector and his contributions to projecting Bayelsa State positively at the federal level, Okwubanego reserved special praise for Dr Ogechi Lokpobiri, whom she described as a pillar of strength and an “icon” of positive impact.

According to her, Dr Ogechi exemplifies the virtues of a supportive, hardworking and productive wife who contributes meaningfully to the success of her husband while also touching the lives of others.

She likened her to the biblical woman who builds her home, stressing that the popular saying that “behind every successful man there is a woman” becomes meaningful when such a woman is caring, productive, hardworking and committed to the wellbeing of others.

Okwubanego said Dr Ogechi’s influence goes beyond her role as the wife of a serving minister, noting that her compassion and dedication to humanity have continued to earn her the respect and admiration of those who have encountered her.

She added that the recognition of Senator Lokpobiri during the Bayelsa @ 30 celebrations should also be seen against the background of the support and partnership of people around him, particularly his wife, who, she said, had remained a dependable pillar.

Okwubanego urged public officials and their spouses to use their positions and influence to promote initiatives that positively affect ordinary Nigerians, stressing that true leadership should ultimately be measured by its impact on human lives.
