Bauchi supplementary poll, peaceful, records large turnout

A huge number of voters were seen casting their votes in some polling units in Bauchi States where the independent national Electoral Commission (INEC) cancelled votes and directed a rerun.

Our correspondent who monitored the voting process in Mallar A and Mallar B polling units in Mwari ward in Bogoro Local Government Area which has 1,130 registered voters, reports that the process was orderly and peaceful in the area

Pastor Isuwa Samaila of the GCVPI Monitoring commenced voters for their peaceful and orderly conduct during the election.

Also, a former Commissioner for Solid Mineral, Professor Audu Bogoro, said that the peace and large turnout of voters was commendable.

“The turnout is impressive and the exercise is hitch-free too. All sensitive materials were deployed here on time and people have come out to exercise their franchise,” he said.

But there were reports of problems in Dott polling unit in Dass Local Government Area where 872 voters were affected.

An eye witness said that voting process was allegedly disrupted in Dott polling unit by some hired hoodlums from one of the political parties.
