The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to address electoral hitches witnessed during Saturday’s Presidential and National Assembly elections in the conduct of future elections.
Senator Mohammed gave the advice in an interview with newsmen in his hometown, Duguri in Alkaleri local government area.
Shortly after casting his vote, Mohammed described the turnout of voters for as impressive.
He noted that even though the election was devoid of rancour, suspicion and mistrust, there were hitches with card readers, late arrival of election materials and allegations of disappearance of ballot papers and boxes by party agents.
“There were hiccups here and there, but they are not insurmountable. But generally, I think the turnout is impressive. The hiccups are in the area of technicalities. Some areas were not supplied with electoral materials on time, especially in Katagum area and other few places”
“Other technicalities were in the area of card readers. There were no technical support on time to repair the faulty ones. I think these are some of the areas INEC needs to improve upon”
