The Chief of Staff to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, Dr. Aminu Gamawa, has criticised the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar, accusing him of non-performance.
He stated that Tuggar deserves to be sacked by President Bola Tinubu because, according to him, the Minister’s “diplomatic blunders have humiliated Nigeria.”
Tuggar recently claimed that Governor Mohammed was using criticism of President Tinubu over tax reforms to launch his 2027 presidential ambition.
But in a statement titled “Tuggar, Remove the Log from Your Eyes; You Deserve Nothing but a Sack,” Gamawa said that Tuggar’s position reflected a profound disconnect from both reality and his responsibilities. He added that the minister’s “undiplomatic and opportunistic outburst further exposes his desperation to curry favour with his new political benefactors, as he lacks any substantive achievements in his current role to proudly showcase.
“Bala Mohammed’s principled stance on national issues, including his valid criticism of the tax reform policy, reflects his commitment to the welfare of Nigerians.”
On Tuggar’s claim that the governor is underperforming, the Chief of Staff said the Minister was disconnected and out of touch with his home state, merely seeking “to remain politically relevant by targeting the governor.” He noted that the governor’s “agricultural policies have transformed Bauchi State into a hub of economic activity. The Governor’s policies have created thousands of jobs across the agricultural value chain, empowering farmers and youth through modern farming techniques and innovative programmes like the Kaura Economic Empowerment Programme (KEEP). This initiative has provided skills in fish farming, animal husbandry, and cash crop production, directly benefiting Bauchi’s youth.”

Though the minister hails from Bauchi, Gamawa stated that he was ignorant of realities there because he had spent more time gallivanting across foreign capitals.
“His detachment from the grassroots and his own local government, which President Bola Tinubu failed to win in the last election, underscores his irrelevance to the people he claims to represent,” the governor’s aide said.
Continuing, Gamawa also stated that the minister’s tenure “has been nothing short of disastrous,” noting that:
“Under his watch, Nigeria’s foreign policy has faltered, and the country’s standing in international relations has diminished, viz-a-viz collapse of leadership, breakdown of relations with neighbours, diplomatic humiliation, and alignment with neo-colonial powers.
“The contrast between Bala Mohammed and Yusuf Tuggar could not be starker. Bala Mohammed, with his vast experience as a director in the federal civil service, a senator, and a former FCT Minister, has consistently delivered results. His tenure as FCT Minister was marked by innovative policies like the Land Swap Programme, which saved the government over ₦1.3 trillion while accelerating housing development.
“In contrast, Tuggar’s tenure as Foreign Affairs Minister has been defined by inertia, incompetence, and irrelevance. President Tinubu’s frequent avoidance of Tuggar during foreign trips speaks volumes about the minister’s redundancy. Tuggar’s inability to address pressing diplomatic issues, coupled with his fixation on attacking Bala Mohammed, highlights his lack of focus and effectiveness.”
