Barcelona have completed the signing of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund, with the German forward joining the Spanish champions on a five-year contract in a deal worth up to €29 million.
The La Liga club confirmed the transfer on Thursday, announcing that the 24-year-old has signed a contract that will keep him at the Spotify Camp Nou until June 2031.
In a statement, Barcelona said the agreement had been finalised following successful negotiations with Borussia Dortmund.
“FC Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement for the transfer of forward Karim Adeyemi, who has signed a contract with the Catalans until 2031.”
The club described Adeyemi as a versatile attacking player capable of operating across the front line.
“Born in Munich on 18 January 2002 to a Nigerian father and a Romanian mother, Adeyemi brings an exciting and versatile attacking profile to the Barça squad.
Throughout his career, he has shown his ability to play on either wing as well as through the middle as a centre-forward, combining blistering pace with a powerful left foot,” the statement added.
Adeyemi had been in Barcelona for several days to complete medical examinations and contractual formalities before the deal was officially announced.
He is now expected to join Hansi Flick’s squad immediately for pre-season preparations ahead of the 2026/27 campaign.
The Germany international becomes Barcelona’s second signing of the summer transfer window, following the arrival of Anthony Gordon, as the club continues to strengthen its attacking options.
Barcelona are also understood to be searching for a long-term successor to veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, with further additions expected before the close of the transfer window.
Adeyemi leaves Borussia Dortmund after establishing himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most dangerous attacking players, earning praise for his pace, direct running and ability to play in multiple attacking positions.
The move marks another significant step in Barcelona’s squad rebuilding project under Flick as the Catalan giants seek to build on recent domestic success and mount a stronger challenge for the UEFA Champions League next season.
