Armed bandits, in the early hours of yesterday, attacked a community in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, killing a mobile policeman and abducting 15 people, including the wife of a monarch in the community.
Daily Sun gathered that the assailants invaded the community at about 12.30am and unleashed gunfire indiscriminately, killing the mobile policeman attached to the Maru police division in front of the district head’s residence, while the deceased attempted to defend the house.
The bandits were said to be disappointed that the district head, who was said to be their main target, was nowhere to be found, and decided to abduct his wife and 14 others in the community.
As of the time of this report, the bandits were yet to contact neither the family of the district head nor the community for ransom regarding the abducted people.
Meanwhile, the Zamfara State Police Command was yet to comment on the incident at press time.
