Suspected bandits have killed no fewer than 16 people in Sokoto State. The attack was carried out on Monday night in Daliga, Rakkoni and Kalhu communities, Rabbah Local Government Area of the state.

This is the third consecutive time that bandits would attack communities in the local government area, claiming several lives and destroying property.

The latest attack was disclosed by the Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal while addressing journalists on post-election violence in the state.

He said: “This sad development once again makes it necessary to call on our security personnel to rededicate themselves to more critical duty of defending the lives and property of our people and avoid being distracted from their constitutional role by unscrupulous politicians, who seek power at the cost of the lives of the people.”

The governor commiserated with the families of the victims, praying to God to forgive the deceased and grant their families the fortitude to bear the loss.
