Bandits terrorising Kaduna State capitalised on Monday night’s downpour to abduct yet to be ascertained number of residents of Keke community of Millennium City in Chikun Local Government Area of the State.
It was gathered that the attack happened around 9pm, on Monday, when many residents were still in their homes after retiring from their work and business places due to early signs of rainfall.
The Millennium City is an emerging social and commercial community where a 300-bed multi-function hospital low housing scheme is being built by the Kaduna State government.
Sources within the troubled community, who spoke in confidence, hinted that “the kidnappers came around 9pm while it rained. So, people were not alerted early enough, because the rain was heavy and suspicious. By the time they left many residents were missing, indicating that they may have been kidnapped. Most of the people kidnapped were just returning home during the attack and they just ran into the bandits,” the source said.
As of the time of filing this report, there was no official statement from both the Kaduna State Police Command and Kaduna State Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs regarding the development.
