The Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris has disclosed that his administration would fashion out a law to expedite their trial of bandit informants which could leading to death sentence or life imprisonment.
Idris stated this during his visit to the villages of Kyebu, Danko-Wasagu Local Government, and Tadurga, Zuru Local Government, where bandits unleashed mayhem, to commiserate with the communities on lives and property lost.
The Governor who reassured communities that the Federal Government has deployed additional logistics and war machinery to confront the criminals head-on, said he had directed that Armoured Personnel Carriers should be position at the vulnerable points in Zuru Emirate.
According to him, “Armoured Personnel Carriers, (APCs), will be deployed to the state, and I have directed that some should be stationed at the vulnerable point in Zuru Emirate”,
“My administration has been expending enormous resources on security matters, such as the provision of operational vehicles and other logistics, welfare for security personnel, which will be sustained”,
“Consequently, this has led to significant improvement in security in Zuru Emirate, since the advent of my government. The annoying aspect is the nefarious activities of informants who direct the bandits to places and homes to be attacked”,
“For a pittance, they inform their-co criminals who are the rich men in villages, where cattle and other valuables are kept, and more dastardly, the movement of security services to enable the bandits escape counter-attack”,
“We shall formulate new law in Kebbi to hasten the trial of informants leading to death sentence or life imprisonment”,
“The government appeals to all communities to expose them wherever they may be, they are a danger to the society, we shall take any informant arrested direct to the state capital for necessary action immediately “, the Governor warned.
Idris thanked the Emir of Zuru, for his unflinching support to the administration and fatherly role to the people of his domain.
In his remark ,the Emir of Zuru, Maj-Gen.(rtd), Muhammadu Sani Sami, Gomo II, who spoke at the scene of the attack at Tadurga, described Governor Idris as ‘our son and charismatic leader, with love for the people of Zuru Emirate’.
“Your Excellency, we appreciate the enormity of resources you’ve been expending on security matters with positive results. I am a witness to the improvement of security in my Emirate since your ascension to power, unlike before.
“We are thankful and happy, but stringent measures must be adopted to deal with informants. If you curtail the activities of informants, our work is almost done, they are the couriers of intelligence for bandits”, the Emir remarked.
