Nigerian producer, artiste and songwriter Bammixx has released his debut four-track EP, Jeje and Slowly, a reflective project that explores patience, gratitude, consciousness, peace and shared human experiences.
The project takes a deliberate approach to sound, favouring layered production, rich textures and spacious arrangements over instant gratification.
At its core is “Jeje”, the Yoruba word for “slowly”, which captures the EP’s central message of moving through life with intention.
The project opens with Ocean Drive, a richly textured track that establishes Bammixx’s sonic direction. Its layered yet spacious production demonstrates his ability to create music that feels peaceful without sacrificing depth.
Dirty Dirty takes a more introspective turn, exploring gratitude, self-awareness, hope and lived experience through a blend of Yoruba and English. The restrained production gives the lyrics room to breathe, reinforcing the song’s reflective mood.
The lead single, Jeje, stands out for its intricate percussion and prominent use of the Gangan, the traditional Yoruba talking drum. By placing the indigenous instrument at the centre of a contemporary Afrobeats production, Bammixx creates a distinctive bridge between cultural heritage and modern sound.
The EP closes with Drainer, which brings greater energy while maintaining the project’s reflective character. Collaborator Tunjichuzzy adds further layers and textures, complementing Bammixx’s production without overshadowing his vision.
Across the four tracks, Bammixx demonstrates a clear artistic identity, using detailed arrangements and thoughtful collaborations to create a cohesive body of work.
Ultimately, Jeje and Slowly is a project built for attentive listening. Rather than chasing quick thrills, it gradually unfolds, rewarding listeners with layers of emotion, culture and sonic detail.
