Manchester City midfielder, Rodri has disclosed that neither Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, nor Karim Benzema congratulated him on his Ballon d’Or victory.
Rodri also stated that Real Madrid player Luka Modric, a previous recipient of the award, did not congratulate him.
Rodri won the 2024 Ballon d’Or at the Théâtre du Châtelet on October 28. He clinched the title ahead of Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior.
Rodri said that none of the recent Ballon d’Or winners approached him to extend their congratulations.

The list included Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo – the two most decorated Ballon d’Or winners of the generation.
During their peak years, Messi and Ronaldo dominated the award, winning it 13 times between them.
Messi has eight Ballons d’Or, whilst Ronaldo has five.
In a recent interview with Diario AS (via @MadridXtra on X), Rodri said, “Messages from previous Ballon d’Or winners? Let me check… There are none from Messi, Cristiano, Modrić or Benzema (laughs).”
