Babcock University (BU), Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State on Sunday graduated 3,568 students made up of 2,543 undergraduates and 686 postgraduates.
Vice Chancellor of BU, Prof. Ademola Tayo, disclosed this at the 23rd convocation ceremony for the award of degrees, prizes and conferment of honorary degrees.
Prof. Tayo revealed that BU produced 243 First Class and that Lawal Fatimah Oyiza, from the Department of Economics in the Veronica Adeleke School of Social Sciences, emerged the best overall student with CGPA of 4.97.
He disclosed that the 23rd convocation ceremony is his final one which bring to a close a decade of leadership service to the institution.
Tayo said his tenure will end on November 30th and a new VC will assume office on Monday, December 1st, 2025.
Lawal bagged the following awards VC, deputy VC, School Dean, department and several cash awards endowed by different individuals.
According to him, different bodies accredited BU programmes including the National Universities Commission (NUC), which also carried out resource verification on four courses.

He explained that BU has matched the scale of its ambition to provide a world-class environment for World-class minds.
“As I prepared to hand over the baton, I do do with peace and pride, knowing that Babcock University is not just surviving, but thriving. And God on our side, the best is yet to come,” Prof. Tayo added.
The Pro-Chancellor, Chairman of Governing Council of BU, Dr. ishaya Istifanus, commended the graduates for the academic milestone they have achieved and charged them to remain worthy ambassadors of the university.
At the ceremony, the university conferred honorary degrees on a Zimbabwean businessman, Dr. Kudakwashe Tagwire and on an educationist and a Pastor, Dr. Enoch Olaleye Dare for their contributions to the society and mankind.
Tagwire, who was the guest speaker, acknowledged the quality of university education Babcock University has been offering in the last two decades.
He charged the graduates to work hard and embrace technology to make headway in whichever areas they chose to focus on as well as remember their alma mate.
