Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir Lawal, has denied allegations that he received money from former presidential aspirant, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, to mobilise political support.
Lawal made the denial during a media interview on Channels TV Politics Today, stating that he had never been financially influenced by any political aspirant.

He insisted that his political positions were based on personal conviction rather than financial inducement.
“If I want money to do politics, I’d phone Bola Tinubu here, and I am sure before I get home, they would give me the money,” he said, while rejecting claims of taking funds from Hayatu-Deen.
The former SGF maintained that his political engagements remain independent and guided by principle rather than material benefit.
