Azikel group donates 40,000 bags of rice to Bayelsa flood victims

In fulfilment of his promise to donate relief materials to Bayelsa flood victims, the President of Azikel group and owners of the modular hydro-skimming petroleum refinery located in Bayelsa State, Dr Eruani Godbless Azibabu, has donated 40,000 mini bags of rice to flood victims in the state.

Dr Eruani who described the 2022 flood disaster as the lowest point in the lives of the people of the state said the donation was in fulfilment of his promise to the Bayelsa State Government and to the people his commitment to donate N350million worth of relief materials to flood victims.

While speaking in Yenagoa at the presentation ceremony, he explained that though it was a challenge bringing relief materials to the state, the over 40,0000 mini bags of rice in 10kg relief materials is presented to the state on behalf of his family and staff of Azikel Group.

According to him, the 2022 flood disaster was one of the lowest points in the history of the state but which the people overcame with unity and resilience.

“Few weeks back, Bayelsa suffered the most devastating flood destruction that the world have ever seen. Almost all the livelihood of the Bayelsa people were wiped out under water. In 2012, we have a similar situation but 2022 was worst than anyone can imagine.

“We struggle in these daring drowning times. Governor of Bayelsa State was out in the streets looking for help going from community to community consoling the persons from Bayelsa that have continue to suffer this loss. It was a very sad moment I think that was one of the lowest moments the people have ever seen.”

“For those of us who are Bayelsans and particularly for me in the midst of just being honoured as Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic, my joy was cut short because of the pains of the Bayelsa people, we are few, but we remain resilience and our strength and unity has uphold us as a people and today we are standing tall and we smiling and we are challenging the nation that we will live and continue to live in Nigeria.”

The Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, represented by the Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Iselema Gbaranbiri, commended the Azikel group and its group President, Dr. Eruani Azibabu Godbless for the donation and urged other private individuals and organisations to support the state in its time of needs.
