Ayobo-Ipaja council in Lagos empowers residents

Ayobo-Ipaja Local Council Development Area of Lagos State has distributed ₦100,000 cash grants to 100 residents and 500 free JAMB registration slips to youths within the council.

Chief Press Secretary to the Council Chairman, Comrade Mayowa Amuwa disclosed this in a Friday statement sent to SunOnline.

According to the statement, the initiative demonstates the unwavering commitment of the administration of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Abiodun Lukmon Agbaje to grassroots development and citizens’ welfare.

Amuwa added that the empowerment programme, which took place at the LCDA Secretariat, is part of the council chairman’s broader agenda to improve livelihoods, promote entrepreneurship, and support educational advancement among young people in the community.

Representing the Executive Chairman, the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Hon. Ahmad Adeyinka Yusuff, reiterated the administration’s dedication to transforming the LCDA and fulfilling its promises to the people.

“This initiative is a clear fulfillment of our campaign promises,” he stated.

“Our administration remains committed to creating opportunities that uplift our people and strengthen the economic and educational foundation of our community.”

Hon. Yusuff further encouraged the beneficiaries to manage the funds judiciously and urged the youth to make the most of the educational opportunities provided, particularly by taking advantage of the administration’s coaching centres designed to prepare students for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board Examination.

The Council Manager, Mrs. Bankole Bawa, expressed satisfaction with the initiative and urged beneficiaries to utilise the financial support wisely to expand their small-scale businesses and improve their economic stability.

Beneficiaries at the event expressed deep appreciation to the chairman for the impactful programme, describing the support as timely and life-changing.

One beneficiary remarked, “This is a great opportunity for me. I intend to invest the money into starting a small business that will help support my family.”

The event was well attended by key stakeholders and dignitaries, including members of the Legislative Arm led by Hon. Bamidele Faruk Adebayo, the Council Treasurer, Mrs. Nurat Olagbaye, the Chief of Staff, Hon. Babatunde Ajose, the CDC Chairman, Elder Olokede, the Iyaloja General, the CAN Chairman, the All Progressives Congress Chairman of Ayobo-Ipaja, Hon. Wole Aina, as well as other respected community leaders.
