AY Stitches holds intensive fashion training for youths

To the intent of grooming the next generation of fashion designers, to become staunch professionals, distinguished couture label, AY Stitches will hold an intensive training for beginners, mainly school leavers with interest in the profession. Also to feature in the training are those in the intermediate and advanced classes.

Chief Executive of AY Stitches, Olujoye  Ayodeji, who disclosed this, said the intensive training will be run by certified instructors and himself as resource persons.

He explained that the duration of the training will be two sessions of three months each, for the beginners, intermediate or advanced trainees, depending on choice. THe advanced trainees would do just three months only, because they already know about design concepts. At the end of the training, the trainees will receive diploma certificates. Each class has 15 available slots for trainees, who will be provided with free starter packs containing all the materials needed for pattern drafting. Each trainee will have a sewing machine for the duration of the course.

The course content will cover introduction to fashion design, pattern drafting and grading, garment construction, couture and avant-garde, advanced corset making and draping, fashion entrepreneurship, bridals, fabric beading/embellishments, fashion illustration, fashion buying and merchandising, fashion branding, digital marketing powered by Walls and Gates Digital Marketing Academy, among other courses in fashion.

He said further: “We have two types of training – physical and online. The online training programme will start on 12th September. The physical training will start on October 1, to mark the country’s 64th Independence anniversary.”
