AY breaks silence after payment dispute disrupts UK show

Nigerian comedian and actor Ayo Makun, popularly known as AY, has apologised to fans following the disruption of his Cardiff show in Wales, United Kingdom, after a dispute over payment arrangements with the event organisers.

The show, part of his “AY Live: Single and Not Searching” UK tour, was scheduled for Sunday, October 25, 2026, at Valegate Retail Park in Cardiff.

However, the event reportedly experienced prolonged delays and confusion, leaving many ticket holders unable to watch the advertised performances.

In a statement shared on Instagram on Monday, AY said he and the other comedians billed for the event had travelled to Cardiff and arrived at the venue but could not perform because of unresolved payment commitments.

“My fellow comedians and I travelled to Cardiff to perform and eventually entered the venue. Unfortunately, unresolved payment commitments delayed our appearance, and by the time we arrived at the hall, most of the audience had left,” he said.

The comedian expressed regret over the experience, acknowledging that the audience deserved better organisation and communication.

“You deserved a properly organised show and timely information. You should never have been caught in the middle of a payment dispute,” he stated.

AY also urged fans to consider his account of the incident before drawing conclusions about what happened, noting that he had provided further explanations in a video.

Addressing concerns about ticket holders who missed the performances, he called on the organisers and the UK tour management to clarify the arrangements for compensation and refunds.

“I am calling on the organisers and our UK tour management to provide a clear resolution for ticket holders, including refund information,” he said.

He added that verified updates would be shared through his official communication channels.

The disruption reportedly sparked complaints from attendees on social media, with accounts of lengthy waiting times, heated exchanges and police presence at the venue.

As of the time of filing this report, the organisers had yet to publicly explain the circumstances surrounding the incident or announce refund arrangements.
