Onigando of Igando land, King Lasisi Gbadamosi has primed Onigando FC for glory in the ongoing Awori Unity Cup hosted by the Olofin of Isheri-Mole Kingdom, King Sulaimon Adekunle Bamgbade with support from other notable Awori traditional rulers.

This assertion was made ahead of the club semifinal clash against Igbesa United slated for today at Loral International School, Lusada, Ogun State.

Having won the by a lone goal against Platinum FC to secure their semifinal place in the 32 teams competition, King Gbadamosi hinted his side, Onigando FC has what it takes to emerge winner while urging all participant to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship. The monarch however, tasked Awori indigenes to use the competition as the tool of peace and unity.

‘I’m glad seeing a tourney of this magnitude among the Aworis. I will love to use this medium to beg all participating team to embrace fair play and other rules of the game. Seeing this gives me hope for greater tomorrow among Awori descendant and I’ll urge the organizers never to relent in activities capable of bringing peace and unity to the people.’

Meanwhile, the club has made several tremendous records in the tourney with striker Taiwo Akindele topping the scorer’s chat with 4 goals while teammate, Ovie John recored 2 to remain in contention for the golden boot award.

The tourney which kicks-off April 11, 2025, will see winner bagging the sum of N1m, while 2nd and 3rd placed team walks away with N500,000 and N250, 000 respectively.
