The Automotive Training Centre commissioned recently at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Ikorodu, Lagos, and many other similar facilities to be opened later in parts of the country, reflect President Bola Tinubu’s vision for the development of the auto sector in Nigeria.
This was the view expressed by the Chairman of the Governing Board of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), His Eminence Chief Emma Eneukwu, at the commissioning ceremony of the Ikorodu facility on Monday, August 25, 2025.
In his opening remarks at the ceremony ahead of the commissioning of the centre by the Minister of State for Industry Trade and Investments, Chief Eneukwu applauded President Bola Tinubu’s vision in the industry.
The NADDC Chairman remarked: “This landmark achievement stands as a shining testimony to the vision and dedication of His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Federal Republic of Nigeria, whose commitment to industrial growth, youth empowerment, and technological advancement continues to move our nation forward.
“Today marks another bold step in advancing Nigeria’s automotive sector, in line with our national drive for industrialization, innovation, and skills development.”
He described the training centre as being more than a building; but also a beacon of opportunity, a platform for innovation, and a gift to future generations.
“It embodies the promise of a Nigeria where knowledge meets industry, and where our young people are equipped to drive progress not only within our borders, but across Africa and the world.
“We are gathered here to celebrate a vision – the vision of building indigenous capacity, reducing dependence on imports, and fostering a generation of engineers, technicians, and innovators who will transform our economy through automotive technology.”
He extended his appreciation to the Lagos State Government and the Lagos State University of Science and Technology management, the Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Senator John Owan Eno.
He also lauded the stakeholders, partners, “and, most importantly, the President, Commander-in-chief of the armed forces Federal Republic of Nigeria for the unwavering support that has made this dream a reality.”
“As we commission this facility today, let it stand as a symbol of renewed hope of opportunities for our youth, and of our collective determination to place Nigeria on the global map of automotive excellence,” the NADDC Chairman said.
