Austrian Embassy hosts award to honour leading lace merchants in Nigeria

The Austrian Embassy’s commercial section is set to host the Austrian Lace Appreciation Event on February 12, 2025, at The Lagos Continental Hotel.

This exclusive, invitation-only event will celebrate the contributions of Nigeria’s top Austrian lace vendors and merchants.

The evening will feature a mini fashion show highlighting designs made with Austrian lace, an awards ceremony recognizing industry leaders, and live entertainment. 

Austrian Ambassador to Nigeria, Thomas Schlesinger, will be in attendance, along with Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, First Lady of Lagos State. Other notable guests include Sen. Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, and Idris Aregbe, Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Tourism.

The event serves as a thank you to the vendors and merchants who have been essential in promoting and selling Austrian lace in Nigeria, fostering a thriving market for the product.  It is organized by the Commercial Section of the Austrian Embassy on behalf of the Association of Austrian Lace Manufacturers in Vorarlberg, Austria.

“We are delighted to host this event to pay tribute to the remarkable Austrian Lace vendors/merchants, who have been instrumental in promoting Austrian Lace in Nigeria,” said Martina Ezeala, representing the Trade and Commerce Department of the Austrian Embassy.
