Australian Pop star, Nishka set for Nigerian debut at ‘Escape’ exhibition

Australian pop artist Nishka is set to make her Nigerian debut with a special musical performance at Escape, an upcoming art exhibition exploring the intersection of contemporary visual art and music.

The Melbourne-based singer has been invited as a special guest performer at the exhibition, organised by artist and author Fortune Ileleji, known for his book The Law of Cohesion, alongside Grammy-winning musician and producer Tejiri Sonics.

The performance marks a significant milestone in Nishka’s artistic journey, introducing her music to a Nigerian audience. Her sound blends soulful vocals, contemporary pop and rhythm-driven production, creating a distinctive musical identity shaped by diverse cultural influences.

Raised in Melbourne in a Macedonian family, Nishka grew up with an eclectic mix of soul, funk, hip-hop, house, and traditional family music. She began singing at 10 while also pursuing competitive martial arts. However, at 15, she decided to devote herself fully to music.

Those formative experiences continue to shape her sound, balancing vulnerability with confidence and intimate storytelling with infectious rhythms. Her music explores themes of love, desire and self-discovery, drawing listeners into deeply personal yet relatable emotions.

Her forthcoming debut single, On My Mind, introduces this musical direction, showcasing her expressive vocals and contemporary sound.

Nishka’s inclusion in Escape also highlights the growing creative relationship between music and visual art. The exhibition will bring together the artistic expressions of Ileleji and Tejiri Sonics, with Nishka’s live performance adding a musical dimension to the experience.

For the Australian singer, her Nigerian debut represents an opportunity to connect with a new audience while expanding her creative journey beyond Melbourne.

With Escape providing a platform for the convergence of different artistic expressions, Nishka is expected to bring her distinctive sound and performance style to an exhibition where music and visual art share the spotlight.
