Terrorists, in the early hours of yesterday, invaded the Abdulsalami Abubakar General Hospital in Gulu, Lapai Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State, killed two people and kidnapped no fewer than 17 health workers.
A resident, who pleaded anonymity, said the doctor, nurse and pharmacist on duty were kidnapped alongside 17 others.
He said one of the victims was a retired health worker.
“They attacked Abdulsalami Abubakar General Hospital, Gulu, around midnight by 2am. Two people were killed, in fact, one of them was even slaughtered,” the resident said.
“The doctor, nurse, pharmacist, and about 17 others were carried away by bandits. There was no destruction of the hospital facility. The man who was slaughtered was with about two or three of his children. His residential apartment is adjacent to the hospital. He is a retired doctor.”
Spokesperson of the Niger State Police Command, Wasiu Abiodun, disclosed that the commissioner was on his way to the scene at the time of filing this report.
He promised to give details on the incident later.
