The camp of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has again debunked a report that he has ruled himself out of contesting in the 2027 general election.

The report which circulated on social media claimed that Atiku has backed his political ally, Peter Obi for a single term ahead of the next presidential election.

However, Media Adviser to the ex-VP, Paul Ibe described the report as false.

He emphasised that Atiku does not plan to withdraw from the race or back any other candidate.

Sharing a screenshot of the report, he said, “Fake news: Not on the menu!”

This is not the first time Atiku has had to debunk identical reports about his political future.

In October, the ex-VP reportedly told the BBC Hausa Service he plans to step down for another presidential aspirant ahead of the 2027 polls.

But his team later clarified that his remark was misconstrued, insisting the 2023 presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would vie again in 2027.
