Atalanta CEO, Luca Percassi has informed the press that Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman has expressed a desire to leave the club for some time.

He also noted that “Inter is a very friendly club,” amid ongoing rumors linking the Nigerian player with a move to the Nerazzurri.

During the presentation of new left-back Honest Ahanor, Percassi stated that Lookman is “expected to leave this summer,” in line with the club’s philosophy of making one key sale per year.

However, he acknowledged that “the transfer market brings surprises,” referring to the unexpected nature of transfers, such as Mateo Retegui’s recent move to Saudi Pro League club, Al Qadsiah for a reported €65 million.

This surprise has reduced the pressure on Atalanta to offer discounts for Lookman, who remains a target for Inter.

Percassi discussed Inter’s interest in Lookman, admitting that there had only been speculative interest until recently.

“For Lookman, despite a lot of interest, there had never been anything concrete, at least not until yesterday when the first official offer arrived,” he explained.

He mentioned meeting with Inter’s sporting director, Giuseppe Marotta, saying, “I saw Marotta yesterday at the Lega offices. We have a great relationship, both personally and professionally.

“In the coming days, we will calmly evaluate the offer we have received and then provide a response. All I can say is that the timing and value of Atalanta players leaving are decisions made solely by the club.”
