In recognition of their roles in promoting Igbo and African culture in the Diaspora, Viola Ford Fletcher Foundation, a non Governmental Organisation recently invited the Eze Ndigbo Ghana, HRM Eze Dr. Chukwudi Ihenetu and his wife, Her Majesty Ugoeze Liberty Ihenetu as special guests, Directors of the Viola Ford Fletcher Foundation and also to witness the citizenship ceremony of Mother Viola Ford Fletcher and her brother, Uncle Red as both were honored with Ghanaian citizenship by the Ghana government. Although, the pronouncement was made in August 2021 in Ghana, the passport was issued to them in Ghana Embassy, Washington DC.
This is because Ghana was among the countries that recognizes Carebians of African descent in the Diaspora. This development made Mother Fletcher and Uncle Red to now have dual citizenship of Ghana and America.
During the event which took place at the Ghana Embassy in Washington DC on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, HRM Dr Ihenetu conferred Uncle Red and Madam Fletcher with Igbo traditional titles of Ike Oha Ndigbo and Ebube Ndigbo. Both titles mean power of Ndigbo and glory of Ndigbo.
According to HRM Dr Ihenetu, Mother Fletcher and Uncle Red were conferred with Igbo Chieftaincy titles because over 60 percent DNA findings linked their origins to the Igbo race of Nigeria.
The Viola Fletcher foundation has played vital roles in uplifting the less privileged in Africa.
In an event attended by eminent personalities from all walks of life which includes Ghana Ambassador to United States, Ahjia Alima Mahama, Ghana Minister of Arts, Tourism and Culture, Dr Ibrahim Mohammodu Awal, Chief Operating Officer Viola Ford Fletcher Foundation in Ghana, Mr Ike Howard, the event proved to be fruitful as it afford everyone in attendance the opportunity to be acquainted with the operations of the organisation.
His Royal Majesty Eze Dr. Amb. Chukwudi Jude Ihenetu is one of the most respected influential African Diaspora leaders. Residing at his palace in Accra, he is recognized by the Ghanaian government, who often defers to him on issues related to Ghana and Nigeria. His Majesty is also a successful businessman with ventures spanning Ghana, Nigeria, and other African countries. He is the chief executive officer of Chibert Group of companies with interests in transportation, Healthcare, farming, aluminum, education, entertainment, oil & gas, and marine services. Outside his numerous ventures, he is also a researcher and an author.
