ASUU strike: Ortom urges FG, ASUU to shift grounds

The Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom has appealed to the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and the federal government to shift grounds on the negotiation table and resolve the lingering ASUU strike.

Ortom made the appeal during the commissioning of TETFund projects at the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM) on Thursday.

He urged both the federal government and ASUU to sheathe their swords in the interest of the Students and state of education in Nigeria and re-open the Universities for resumption of academic activities.

“I also wish to seize this opportunity to appeal to the Academic Staff Union of ‘Universities (ASUU) and the Federal Government to shift grounds on the negotiation table resolve the lingering strike by ASUU in the interest of the Students and state of education in Nigeria and re-open the Universities for resumption of academic activities.”

The Governor commended TETFUND for its commitment towards improvement in the nation’s Tertiary Education sector through the various intervention programmes even as he wished the Management well as it undertakes the onerous task of Salvaging infrastructure of the nation’s tertiary institutions.
