Spokesmen of Asue/Ogie Campaign Management Council, on Sunday, urged the people of Edo State not to accept anything below the political leadership and performance set by late former governor of Bendel State, Prof. Ambrose Alli.

Addressing journalists in Benin City, one of the Spokesmen, Roy Orhibhabor, condemned the APC, for persistent attacks on the state governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, pointing out that the governor is not on ballot for the September 21st governorship election.

“Let’s face Okpebholo and Ighodalo, what are they bringing to Edo people? Edo people should not make the mistake.

“We are saying that Edo should not go below what Ambrose Alli did in Bendel.”

Oribhabor while alleging that the leaders of APC are ganging up against Edo people, called on the Edo Diaspora to step in and play a role, adding “Politics of the 21st century is too critical for the people to take lightly”.

On his part, Mr. Christopher Ojeikere, another spokesman of the Council, chronicled many achievements of governor Obaseki and said Asue Ighodalo was the most qualified to continue his legacy because he was the Chairman of Alaghodaro, the think-tank of the Obaseki administration.

He therefore slammed ex-Comrade Governor Adams Oshiomhole for claiming that Obaseki did not perform as a governor and urged him to remain a statesman so that he would continue to be respected by Edo people.

Earlier, Deputy Director General, Media of the Asue/Ogie Campaign Management Council, Rev. Olu Martins, also condemned Senator Oshiomhole for allegedly misrepresenting facts about the Obaseki’s administration in the ongoing governorship campaigns.

He described APC as “a gathering of vultures and hawks”, saying that governor Obaseki has sanitized the political system of Edo as opposed to the era of Oshiomhole government.
