Nigerian singer, Ahmed Ololade (Asake), has revealed that his decision to pursue music once strained his relationship with his father, who strongly opposed the move.
Speaking during a recent interview with YouTuber Korty EO, the ‘Sungba’ crooner said things changed between them when he insisted on following his passion despite his father’s disapproval.
According to him, the once-close bond they shared began to deteriorate after he chose to leave home against his father’s wishes.
“My dad and I were so close when I was younger. But it got to a time when I wanted to leave home to do what I’m doing now but my father said ‘No.’ I left regardless,” he said.

Asake admitted that the decision marked a turning point in their relationship, leading to a period of distance between them as he focused on building his music career.
The revelation comes months after his father, Fatai Odunsi, publicly accused the singer of neglect in March 2025, a development that sparked widespread reactions online.
However, both father and son have since reconciled, with the singer taking responsibility for his father’s welfare, signalling a return to better terms after the public fallout.
