The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum has called on President Muhammadu Buhari, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to be impartial in the conduct of the forthcoming Edo and Ondo governorship elections.
The Forum, which gave the charge in a communique signed by its chairman, Aminu Tambuwal, at the end of its virtual meeting, on Saturday, also urged PDP members in the two States to be vigilant during the polls and to ensure that their votes count.
According to the communique, the PDP governors at the meeting, which was attended by Tambuwal and 11 other PDP governors, as well as the Director-General of the Forum, CID Maduabum, deliberated on issues affecting the forum and the country.
The opposition party governors resolved to support Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State and the PDP governorship candidate in Ondo State, Eyitayo Jegede.
The communique also stated that: ‘The Governors encouraged all Nigerians to continue various efforts to contain the COVID-19 disease; and, lend support to the cooperative efforts between the States and Federal governments in the federation in the fight against the pandemic and in reopening of schools in a safe and responsible manner.’
