Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s manager, has claimed that it is “too early” to declare the club is moving away from rival Premier League title competitors.

Arteta was commenting following their 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Eberechi Eze scored his first Premier League goal for Arsenal against his former club.

Manchester City, who kicked off at the same time, lost 1-0 at Aston Villa.

Yesterday, Brentford beat Liverpool 3-2 at the GTech Community Stadium, while Sunderland defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

These results mean Arsenal are now four points clear at the top of the table, six ahead of City and seven clear of Liverpool.

On the weekend’s results, Arteta said: “I think it was a really positive weekend for us, especially because we did what we had to do and then it shows the difficulty of the league, and how complicated it is to win these games.”
