Viktor Gyökeres grabbed a brace to help Arsenal thrash Sunderland 3-0 at the Emirates on Saturday and maintain their lead on the English Premier League table.

Martín Zubimendi slotted home the opener in the 42nd minute from just outside the boxer from a Leandro Trossard assist.

Substitute Viktor Gyökeres doubled the lead in the 66th minute with one of his first touches of the game.

The Swedish striker was on song again three minutes into added time after a delightful pass from Gabriel Martinelli.

With the win, the Gunners extended their lead by nine points after Aston Villa were held to a 1-1 draw by Bournemouth.

Second-place Manchester City have a chance to cut Arsenal’s lead back to six points when they confront Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
