Arsenal Fans Club Nigeria will be officially unveiled in Abuja on Saturday, October 17, as part of efforts to strengthen the club’s Nigerian fan base and promote community service through football.

The unveiling will climax a two-day programme featuring the club’s second Annual General Meeting (AGM), fitness activities, a novelty football match and a sanitation campaign at Wuse Market in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a statement issued on Monday, the club’s National President Charles Ojugbana said the initiative was inspired by the contributions of footballers of Nigerian descent who have featured for Arsenal, including Nwankwo Kanu, Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze.

Ojugbana said the club was committed to taking football fandom beyond match-day excitement by creating a platform for supporters to connect, engage in charitable activities and contribute to society.

“We are drawing inspiration from the exploits of Arsenal players of Nigerian descent, past and present, such as Kanu Nwankwo, Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze, to raise football fan experience to a level never attained before,” he said.

According to the programme, delegates from the club’s state and city chapters will converge on Abuja on Friday, October 16, for the second AGM, ahead of the formal unveiling the following day.

Activities on Saturday will begin with aerobic exercises and a novelty football match before members move to Wuse Market for a clean-up campaign.

As part of the sanitation initiative, the club said it would donate industrial refuse bins and other sanitation equipment and materials to the market union executives to support improved waste management in the commercial centre.

Ojugbana said the outreach programme aligned with the organisation’s philanthropic objectives, particularly its commitment to supporting vulnerable, less-privileged and disadvantaged members of society.

The unveiling ceremony is expected to attract prominent personalities from different sectors, including business leaders, public figures and Nigerian celebrities who support Arsenal. Those listed in the statement include former Senate President 】, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, Senator Dino Melaye】 and former Arsenal forward Nwankwo Kanu.

Arsenal Fans Club Nigeria operates as a non-profit organisation with a governance structure comprising a Board of Trustees, a National Executive Committee and a General Assembly, which serves as its highest decision-making body.

The club also operates a digital membership database to facilitate its administration and coordination of activities across its chapters.

Among its planned initiatives for 2027 is an awareness campaign for children with Down syndrome, scheduled to coincide with World Down Syndrome Day in March.

The club said the initiative would form part of its broader commitment to community engagement and the use of football as a platform for social responsibility.
